  • This course will introduce you to PLC programming.
  • You will learn how to create ladder diagrams, statements, function block diagrams and instruction sets to program a PLC.
  • As part of this course you will learn how to effectively use relays and sensors with the PLC.
  • You will work with the instructor to develop four example PLC programs for a “Siemens Simatic S7-300” PLC using the Siemens PLC simulator.

  • You will learn about the different CNC machine types and also learn the different 2D milling operations and the use of G-Code for CNC machine programming.
  • As part of this course, you will learn the use of Vetric Vcarve / 2DCut / Aspire to create a design, refine the design and thereafter define the job specifications and toolpath.

  • This course will introduce you to the basics of computer programming. A BBC MicroBit board and sensor kit will be shipped to you at the start of the course.

  • You will learn the fundamentals of electrical and electronic engineering to learn how the BBC MicroBit functions.
  • With the aid of the MicroBit and sensor kit, you will learn the different types of sensors and how they work and connect with the microbit.
  • You will implement different projects using the MicroBit and the sensors in the kit.

Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design

  • This course will guide you to get started and work through the design of printed circuit boards.
  • You will learn how to draw a schematic in Altium PCB Designer or Eagle PCB Designer, select component footprints.
  • You will lean how to setup a PCB board size and shape, general PCB design rules and conventions, defining mounting holes and setting up layers.
  • You will learn how to transfer the footprint information to the board layout and perform routing.
  • You will also learn about auto-routing facilities provided in software.

Solidworks Advanced

  • This course will introduce you to Solidworks  –  a solid modelling Computer Aided Design (CAD) computer programme.
  • You will learn how to create components using Solidworks.
  • You will start by sketching a shape, extrusions and learn basic features. 
  • Thereafter you will learn about more complex features in Solidworks such as tapering, lofts, sweeps and swept cuts. 
  • You will also learn producing component assemblies. You will lean assembly mating operations.
  • You will work with the instructor to implement 4 example engineering / mathematical problems for analysis and presentation.
  • Finally you will also lean how to produce engineering drawings that you can send off to a manufacturer or a 3D printing firm to produce or machine your component.
